Vedanthangal is south of Chennai and it takes two hours drive from the city. It is a fresh water lake based sanctuary and has been preserved by the villagers. Villagers for ages have abstained from bursting crackers in order not to disturb the birds. Now the sanctuary is a protected one under the government control. A brief visit could mean an hours sta, but if you are a bird lover and want to stay longer carry food. There are couple of tea stalls in the parking area. The sanctuary is open from 6 am to 6 pm and there is an entry fee of INR 5/- |
